Before we come to Jesus, we are at war against God, and then our war becomes His as He fights for us with his spiritual weapons. May we be in a state of continual repentance when we recognize the need, and it will surely bring us into rest. The beauty of peace in Him is that it is the eye of the storm -- the calm in the midst of the world's chaos swirling all about. You're right about Niagara Falls -- the tremendous power does cause the ground to tremble and fills the air with an inescapable roar. But if we know Christ, we can be still and know that He is God.
Thanks as always for your insightful and encouraging comment. We must be true to who God calls us to be and what He asks of us in his Word. Thank you for the reminder that peace only comes when we put aside confusion. That sums it up very well for me. When the time came for judging, all kinds of peaceful scenery were submitted - such as gently flowing rivers, calm sea, meadows, flowers growing in the field, and so on.
But the winner was the one who painted two birds perched on a branch of a tree, with a mighty waterfall thundering in the background.
I think this is a superb picture of the life in Christ. While the world can be likened to a cascading waterfall, with the thundering of the waters intense enough to literally cause the ground to tremble (I recall being at Niagara Falls) - the branch may at first look insignificant, actually it preserves the lives of the birds.
A great article on peace likened to a calm river. As you say, repentance brings reconciliation and rest in the Lord. It means to re think and change our ways.
Thank you for sharing all those scriptures that encourage us to do this.
God bless Laurie.Brendahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16165344093549650260noreply@blogger.com
