He is amazing as far as directions are concerned, and sometimes the satnav has made mistakes. It reminds me of the Lord, our husband, being the best best One to direct our path in life. As a result, it can send us into danger without a second thought. Fortunately God is always concerned and acting in our best interests. While the way he chooses may not be the fastest, it is always the best. In Winter they always get stuck and block the road for hours. All the GPS saw was the quickest way, God's way is seldom the quickest, but always the best. Unlike those semis, we will always arrive at God's planned destination if we listen to Him. Many young people today lack the ability to do simple arithmetic without the aid of a calculator, or to learn or memorize information, as all can be known instantly by asking Alexa.
My husband bought me an Alexa, which I seldom used except occasionally to check the weather. Then I read that Alexa is constantly eavesdropping on conversations and even recording them, which makes sense, because how else would "she" know to turn on when her name is mentioned? So I agree, that's creepy, and Alexa has been unplugged ever since. Apparently there was a case or two in which stored recordings from Alexa were used to solve a murder.
Praise the Lord that He knows all about us and protects and guides us.
Thanks as always for sharing your insights. There is something very fulfilling about navigating a route without outside help (save for a map, on good old paper!) I wonder whether such dependency on gadgets like this one has compromised our character, the will to face challenges, particularly among men?
The meaning of the name "Alexa" might be different here in the UK. Here it's a cylinder, standing on the mantelpiece or windowsill. You talk to it and it answers back, including answering technical questions.
To me, it's creepy. As such, we would never have one in the house. A forerunner to the mark of the beast in Revelation, perhaps?
But praise be to God, he is our eternal Surveyor! Not to pass information to the Government or to some sort of Central Intelligence, but to watch out for own own good.
An excellent post, God bless.Frank E.
